DL.ART Thankful Thursday #171 - New Years

Happy Thursday and Happy Christmas Eve!! Christmas has finally arrived!! Santa's going to need to borrow Noah's Ark to deliver presents here...we've had strong storms and non-stop rain with temps in the high 60's. It totally doesn't seem like Christmas.

It's time for a new Thankful Thursday at DL.ART and the theme this week is New Years. I created a couple of cards and an ornament to celebrate 2016 using gorgeous Cabernet Ribbon from Diana's Vintage Vineyard Bundle.

For the ornament, I used the same technique I used for the Southwestern Bison ornament HERE. I also added some of Diana's beautiful Twine to the Poppystamps Stitched Button.

For the cards I used papers from my favorite Bo Bunny's Altitude stack and stitched it to heavyweight cardstock. The edges were distressed with a Zutter DIA. A Spellbinders Curved Borders 1 die was used beneath the flowers, which are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Cherry Lynn Flourishes, Memory Box Chloe Stems and Sue Wilson Faux Quilled Leaves were also tucked under the blooms. The happy die and new year stamp are from My Creative Time, with some Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Ink along the edges.

Now it's your turn...head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your New Years project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

I won't be around blogland until after the first of the year. I'm headed down to my sister's house in Kentucky as she's having surgery. I'm not sure that I'll be able to get online so I will catch up with all of you when I return. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!! Merry Christmas!! Big hugs :)

Merry Christmas Mixed Media Card

Happy Saturday!! I hope you are having a wonderful last weekend before Christmas!! So much to do, so little time left...only six days!! Eek!! I have one more scheduled DT post on Christmas Eve but otherwise, I probably won't be around blogland much until the new year. I do have a mixed media Christmas card to share with you today :)

I started with heavyweight watercolor paper and adhered a crumpled up sheet of tissue paper to it with Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium. Then I applied a coat of Gesso and let it dry. Next, I used Wendy Vecchi Texture paste with a The Crafter's Workshop Art Is stencil and a Dylusions leaf stencil. Once it dried, I used Twinkling H2O's in various shades for a shimmer effect and some Viva Inka Gold Metallic Rub. Then I sprayed some Dylusions Cherry Red and Postbox Red and dabbed it off. I sprinkled some Shabby White Embossing powder in random places for a bit of texture and used a Deco Art Snow Writer as well. Merry Christmas is a My Craft Spot stamp (no longer in business). I stamped it on tissue paper and then used Multi Medium to adhere it to the card.

I used the same technique for the Spellbinders Poinsettias as I did on my previous card...I wet the paper and when it was damp but not so wet that the paper would tear, I wrapped the petals around a paintbrush and then used flat pliers and scrunched the sides together. I then brushed Iridescent Red Twinkling H2O's over the petals but you can't see the shimmer at all in the pictures. I tucked Impression Obsession Pine Sprigs, cheesecloth and baby's breath under the flowers.

I cut the Memory Box Large Winter Sled in Grungeboard and then covered it with Festive Berries Distress Ink. Then I layered Deco Art Crackle Glaze on top. Once it dried and cracked, I dabbed Gathered Twig Distress Ink on top to highlight the cracks. Dec 25 is a My Creative Time die. It was covered with Shabby White Embossing Enamel.

The gorgeous crinkle ribbon is Six Fathoms from the DL.ART The Mermaid Tale bundle. The button is a Poppy Stamps Stitched button die. The snowflake is from Hobby Lobby. I covered it with gesso and then Shabby White Embossing Enamel and heat set it.

Scrapy Land Blog Challenge #32 - Holidays

Happy Wednesday!! My goodness, the days just flying by as Christmas rapidly approaches. I'm so not ready!! But I am ready for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land and the theme for this challenge is appropriate: Holidays plus a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries (there are over 40 to choose from).

For this shabby chic Christmas card, I used papers from one of last year's The Paper Studio Christmas packs. I added a layer of tulle between the bottom two layers. A Spellbinders Curved Borders 1 Die was used on the white cardstock that was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder. A La-La Land Heart Banner was tucked beneath a Memory Box Stitched Circle die. The Heart Banner was embossed with Shabby White Embossing enamel. The sentiment banner is a La-La Land Stitched Element die. The sentiment is from My Craft Spot (no longer in business), heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

The button is a Poppy Stamps Stitched Button die. The bell was covered with gesso and then DecoArt Snow Writer, which I also used around the card. Big thanks to Pamellia of My Little Craft Things for introducing the Snow Writer to me :) Tucked under the flowers are Memory Box Shrewsbury Stems.

The flowers were created with a Spellbinders Poinsettia die. To get the wrinkled look, I wet the paper and when it was damp, but not so wet that it would tear, I wrapped the petals around the handle of a paintbrush. Then I took a pair of flat-edged pliers and squeezed the edges together. It was time-consuming, but I love the look :)

Southwestern Season's Greetings

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a Christmas card to share with you using one of the newest dies from the November Release. If you use the code lisa15, you will get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

I absolutely love the Whispers Southwestern Desert die. I thought would make a perfect southwestern-themed Christmas card. I cut the desert out first in green cardstock and then black for a shadow effect. The two larger saguaro cacti pop out from the die for an outline effect. I took the pieces that popped out, covered them in Christmas lights (liquid pearls), added foam tape for dimension and then put them back in place. Season's Greetings is from the Compliments Holiday Greetings 1 die. It was cut in red cardstock and then craft foam for dimension.

2. Simon Says Stamp Work it Wednesday November - Holiday Card

DL.ART Thankful Thursday #170 - Green & Red or Blue & White

Happy Thursday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week!! It's time for another Thankful Thursday Challenge at DL.ART. The challenge this week is Green & Red or Blue & White...your choice.

I couldn't decide between green and red or blue and white, so I created one of each. It also gave me the opportunity to use my Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamps/dies :)

I think the papers are from Recollections' Jolly & Bright paper stack, but I'm not positive. I inked the edges of this one with Broken China Distress Ink. This guy was colored with Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Markers and a TH Waterbrush. The glasses, candy cane and Santa hat are from the Crazy Things stamps and die sets. I used glossy accents on the glasses and glitter on the hat. The trees are a Die-Namites Winter Trees die. The snowflakes are Impression Obsession Small Snowflake dies. The gorgeous ribbon is Aruba Blue from Diana's Tropical Summer bundle. The tag and sentiment are from My Craft Spot (no longer in business).

This guy was colored with Fired Brick and Barn Door Distress Markers and a TH Waterbrush. The Santa and reindeer die is from Impression Obsession. This beautiful ribbon is Six Fathoms from Diana's The Mermaid's Tale First Edition.

Now it's your turn!! Head on over to DL.ART to see the amazing projects my design team sisters have created for today's challenge!! Then link up your green & red or blue & white project!! I can't wait to see what you create :)

Southwestern Bison Ornament

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a project to share with you using one of the newest dies from the November Release. If you use the code lisa15, you will get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order.

Isn't this Southwestern Bison die awesome?! I cut it out in vinyl and it cut perfectly. The gorgeous ribbon is Christmas Red from the DL.ART Traditional Christmas bundle. The button is a Die-Versions Wee Petites Button die.

To create the sparkly ornament, I poured about a tablespoon of Future floor polish into the ornament and rolled it around until it coated all of the inside, then discarded the extra liquid. Then I poured in glitter and rolled it around until it covered the inside surface, tapping out any extra. I let it dry before I added the topper back on. I love the look of these sparkly ornaments so you will probably see more projects like this in the next few weeks ;)

I am entering this in the following challenges:

1. Little Scrap Pieces Show It Off Saturday - A/G
2. Jo's Scrap Shack Funday Friday - Christmas Joy

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great day :)

Disco Fever Part 2

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! It's my turn to post on the Die-Versions blog and I have a couple of cards to share with you using dies from the October Retro Release. This is such an awesome release and if you use the code lisa15, you'll get 15% off your regular price Die-Versions order :)

I am having so much fun with these dies...disco music plays in my head as I cut them out :)

I used the Whispers Retro Disco Ball for this card. I cut it out first in Core Couture paper from Core-dinations and then black craft foam for dimension.

The Whispers Retro Dancers adorn this card. I found the papers in my stash...possibly old DCWV? They had the retro feel I was looking for. Disco is from the Whispers Retro Disco Ball die.

I just had to share this picture of the sunset a few days ago...the colors were so vibrant!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have a great day :)

Happy Wednesday!! I hope you are having a wonderful week :) It's time for another fun challenge at Scrapy Land!! The theme this challenge is Monochromatic plus a brand of die that Scrapy Land carries...there are over 40 to choose from.

For my cards, I went totally monochromatic with all white for a winter wonderland scene. This also gave me a chance to use some of the tree dies I've been collecting...I have a slight obsession with tree dies :)

I started with a Die-Namites Winter Forest die in the back and popped it up with foam tape for dimension. Each successive layer is popped up with foam tape. The next layer is a Memory Box Evergreen Landscape die, and over that is a Memory Box Country Landscape die. I interspersed some Impression Obsession Fir Trees among the layers.

The deer family are Impression Obsession Deer Trio dies. Joy is from Memory Box. It was covered with sugar coating for sparkle. The stars are Memory Box Star of Wonder dies, and they were covered with sugar coating as well.
